Web Design for Hotels: A Case Study Review

Updated on: Updated by: Ciaran Connolly

The primary challenge faced in this case involved addressing several critical issues with the existing website of our hotel client. These challenges were impeding the website’s functionality and overall user experience, which are crucial for the hospitality industry.

Web design for hotels needs to create a pleasant user experience, because that’s where the traveller’s journey begins.

In this case study review, we’ll explore how we transformed our client’s website, to create a compelling online presence that not only reflects the hotel’s brand and ethos but also enhances the guest experience right from the start.

Our focus was on developing a website that would not just inform but also engage and excite potential guests, setting the stage for their stay.

ClientWestville Hotel
Share on

The Client

Westville Hotel is a 4-star boutique hotel located in Enniskillen, a charming town in the idyllic County Fermanagh. The hotel offers a choice of rooms or apartments, and welcomes guests into a pleasant and comfortable stay. It’s ideal for both business travellers and tourists seeking a comfortable and luxurious experience in Enniskillen.

Westville Hotel

The Challenge

In order to enhance the digital performance and online reputation of Westville Hotel, we set several objectives, based on their frustrations and future goals.

Create an Accessible Website

The client’s website was previously inaccessible for internal updates. This limitation made it impossible for the hotel staff to update content or make necessary changes independently, forcing them to rely heavily on third-party services. Such dependence not only slowed down the process of keeping the website current but also added extra costs and complications for the hotel.

Security Vulnerability

Another concern was the security vulnerability presented by the old theme of the website. The outdated theme not only posed risks of potential security breaches but also lacked the capability for essential backups.

In the hotel industry, where customer data security is paramount, this poses a substantial risk to both the hotel’s reputation and the safety of storing guest information.

Need for a Refresh

The visual appeal and user experience of the hotel’s website were also severely lacking. The outdated theme did not represent the hotel’s brand effectively and was not inviting to potential guests. A clear, intuitive navigation was absent, making it difficult for users to find the information they needed.

These challenges highlighted the need for a comprehensive overhaul of the website, focusing on accessibility, security, and a refreshed, user-centric design to align with the standards expected in the hospitality industry.

Our Approach

In addressing the challenges faced by the hotel’s website, our approach was multifaceted and aimed at enhancing performance, user experience, and security, while also empowering the client with the ability to manage their website more effectively.

Updated Website Theme

The first step in our strategy was to update the website’s theme. This was a crucial move as no further optimisation could be effectively implemented without this foundational change. The new theme was selected and customised to significantly improve the website’s performance, enhance user experience, and bolster security measures.

To add a unique and engaging touch, especially during festive seasons, we incorporated seasonal features such as falling snowflakes. This not only improved the visual appeal of the website but also created a more immersive experience for users, reflecting the hotel’s attention to detail and hospitality.

Intuitive Layout

With the updated theme in place, we focused on creating an intuitive website layout. This involved redesigning the structure to ensure that information was easily accessible and navigation was straightforward. A well-thought-out layout is key to retaining visitors and converting them into guests, as it allows them to find what they need with minimal effort.

Header and Footer Update

We revamped the website’s header and footer, ensuring that these crucial elements were both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The updated header and footer included essential links, contact information, and quick access to key pages, improving the overall navigational experience of the website.

Custom ‘Blocks’ for Easy Updates

To give the client greater control and flexibility over their website, we implemented custom ‘blocks’. These blocks allowed the hotel staff to easily update and edit various parts of their website, such as the Rooms page, Wine and Dine page, Explore page, etc.

The ability to create or delete these blocks as needed provided the client with a simple yet powerful tool to keep their website current and dynamic.

Training Resources

Understanding the importance of client autonomy in website management, we provided the hotel with comprehensive training resources. These resources were designed to help them learn how to easily edit, update, and add new content to the website, including blog posts, to sustain their SEO efforts

By equipping the client with these skills, we ensured that they could maintain the effectiveness of their website long-term without being overly reliant on external support.

Our approach was tailored to not only address the immediate needs of the hotel’s website but also to empower the client for future website management, ensuring a sustainable and secure online presence.

The Results

Our comprehensive approach to redesigning the hotel’s website yielded impressive and impactful results. The following are key highlights of the outcomes achieved:

Organic Traffic That Outperforms Paid Advertising

One of the most significant achievements was the substantial increase in organic traffic, which surpassed the results from paid advertising campaigns. This success can be attributed to our strategic long-term digital marketing strategy, which is crafted to sustain and enhance the hotel’s online visibility.

The focus on SEO, content relevance, and user engagement paid off, attracting a steady stream of organic traffic that is crucial for sustainable growth and profitability. This approach not only reduces the reliance on paid advertising but also assures continuous returns on investment over time.

A Sleek and Appealing Web Design for Hotels

The revamped website now boasts a sleek and modern design, perfectly aligning with the hotel’s brand image. The aesthetic appeal of the website is crucial in the hospitality industry, as it sets the tone for the entire guest experience.

Our design choices were guided by the goal of creating an inviting and engaging digital space that captures the essence of the hotel’s hospitality and branding and entices potential guests to explore further.

A Seamless User Experience

The new website offers a seamless and intuitive user experience, mirroring the ease and comfort guests can expect during their stay. From easy navigation to quick access to essential information, every aspect of the website is designed to provide a hassle-free online experience

Top 3 Results for Transactional Keywords

A notable achievement in our SEO efforts is the hotel’s website ranking in the top three results for key transactional keywords. This prominence in search engine results not only increases the hotel’s visibility but also ensures that it reaches the right audience.

The transformation of the hotel’s website has had a profound impact on its digital marketing presence and overall business performance. The increase in organic traffic, coupled with a visually appealing design and a user-friendly experience, positions the hotel as a top choice for travellers and ensures that the hotel remains a competitive and profitable entity in the hospitality industry.

Why Is Web Design For Hotels Important?

In the hospitality industry, a website serves as the digital front door to the establishment, so it is essential that the web design for hotels is inviting, informative, and intuitive—because if you aren’t, your competitors are.

With Westville Hotel, we aimed to ensure that every aspect of the website, from the layout to the content, contributed to a seamless and enjoyable user experience. This approach is critical in the hotel industry, where the first impressions often determine the future of booking decisions.

Hotel Website Design: A Case Study Review

Updated on: Updated by: Marwa Alaa

In an era where digital presence is synonymous with a brand’s identity, the importance of a well-designed website cannot be overstated enough, especially within the hospitality industry.

This case study presents an insightful journey of transforming our client’s hotel website design, into a cutting-edge, customer-centric experience.

However, this transformation was not just about aesthetic enhancement; it delved deeper into improving user experience, streamlining navigation, and aligning the digital presence with contemporary trends.
The lessons learned from this case study review extend beyond the realm of hospitality marketing, offering valuable insights into the impact of digital design in today’s business world.

ClientBelmore Court & Motel

The Client

Belmore Court & Motel, located in Enniskillen, is a unique accommodation choice distinct from conventional hotels. Celebrated for its exceptional service, this establishment has been recognised as a top accommodation option in Enniskillen and Fermanagh by TripAdvisor for over seventeen years.

What sets Belmore Court & Motel apart is its commitment to exceptional customer service and genuine hospitality. The motto “Arrive a guest, leave as a friend” encapsulates their approach to guest relations, aiming to create meaningful connections and a welcoming atmosphere that turns guests into extended family members.

Belmore Court & Motel

The Challenge

Our client, a local hotel in Enniskillen, primarily needed a new website. Their existing digital presence was lacking in modern functionality, which ultimately had an impact on their direct bookings. Our job was to deliver a hotel marketing strategy and create a digital home that put our client’s website in front of their potential guestsat the right time.

Outdated Design

Our client’s existing hotel website was no longer meeting modern standards. Its dated appearance and lack of contemporary features were evident, signalling a pressing need for a revamped hotel website design.

Difficult Navigation

Users also found the website hard to navigate. The previous layout and user interface were not intuitive, leading to confusion and inefficiency when trying to view available bookings or find out more information about a potential stay.

Negative User Experience

The combination of an outdated design and difficult navigation culminated in a negative user experience. This affected the website’s ability to both attract and retain potential guests, impacting our client’s digital performance and online success.

Our Approach

Considering the needs of our client at Belmore Court and Motel, we strategically began to create a hotel website design that would land them on the first page of search engine results.

This increase in SEO position led to more website traffic, and with our clever web design and embedded calls to action, we ensured that those website visitors were encouraged to become guests.

Integrated with Net Affinity Booking System

A key step in our approach was integrating the Net Affinity booking system. This system streamlined the reservation process, making it more user-friendly and efficient for guests. It allowed for a smoother booking experience, reducing barriers to conversion.

Improved Layout and Mega Menu

Recognizing the need for easier navigation, we completely overhauled the website’s layout. The introduction of a mega menu was a strategic move to enhance accessibility.

This new layout made it easier for users to find what they were looking for, whether it was room descriptions, rates, or special offers. Our focus was on ensuring that every visitor could navigate the site with ease, mirroring the welcoming and accommodating spirit of Belmore Court & Motel.

Responsive Design for Mobile Users

In an industry where mobile usage is prevalent, we also emphasised creating a responsive hotel website design. This ensured that the website was easily accessible and functional across various devices, catering to the growing number of users who prefer mobile browsing when booking trips.

These initiatives were essential in transforming the website into a more effective and engaging platform, directly reflecting the hotel’s commitment to providing an exceptional online experience for its guests.

The Results

With a revamped digital presence and sleek, functionable website design, we were able to take our client’s website and bring it to a new level. Check out the results of this amazing project below.

Faster site speeds lead to higher conversions

Our approach to this hotel website design was focused on building faster site speeds to enhance the User Experience. This functionality also led to higher conversion rates as users were more likely to complete desired actions like making a reservation or booking an enquiry when the website functioned fast and efficiently.

Improved SEO

The faster site speeds and improved user experience also helped with search engine optimisation, meaning the website ranked in higher positions and for more targeted keywords. This also increases the website traffic to over 1000 organic visitors per month, providing real and measurable value to our approach of hotel website design.

Reduced the use of 3rd party booking

By improving the website experience directly, reliance and costs associated with third-party booking sites were also reduced. We created an appealing and conversion-focused website that allowed for more direct bookings and reduced the need for third-party services and their additional fees/commissions.

Why Is Hotel Website Design Important?

In the world of digital branding, a well-designed website is pivotal, particularly in the hospitality sector. It affects several aspects of your business’ reputation and digital performance, including;

  • First Impressions: Your hotel’s website is often the first interaction potential guests have with your brand. A well-designed website creates a positive first impression and can help build trust and credibility.
  • Visual Appeal: Attractive visuals, including high-quality images and videos of your hotel and its amenities, can inspire potential guests and make them more likely to book a stay. High-resolution images showcase your property in the best light.
  • Branding and Identity: Your website is a reflection of your hotel’s brand and identity. Consistent branding elements, such as logo, colour schemes, and fonts, help reinforce your brand and make it memorable to visitors.
  • SEO and Search Ranking: Proper hotel web design can positively impact your hotel’s SEO efforts. Search engines like Google favour websites that are well-structured, fast-loading, and user-friendly. A well-designed website can help improve your search engine ranking, making it easier for potential guests to find you online.
  • Booking Conversion: The ultimate goal of your hotel website is to convert visitors into guests. An effective web design should include clear and prominent calls to action (CTAs), such as “Book Now” buttons, to encourage visitors to make reservations.
  • Information Accessibility: Your website should provide comprehensive information about your hotel, including room types, rates, amenities, location, and local attractions. Clear and organised information helps potential guests make informed decisions.
  • Feedback and Interaction: A well-designed website can facilitate guest feedback and interaction. Features like online reviews, chat support, and contact forms allow guests to provide feedback and ask questions, fostering engagement and trust.
  • Adaptability: As consumer preferences and technology evolve, your website needs to adapt. Regularly updating and refining your web design ensures that it remains relevant and effective in reaching your target audience.

Hotel web design plays a crucial role in attracting, engaging, and converting potential guests. It directly influences user experience, branding, search visibility, and ultimately, the success of your hotel business in the digital age.

This case study review illustrates the journey of revamping a local Enniskillen hotel’s website, showcasing how design goes beyond aesthetics to enhance user experience and align with modern trends for future success.

Website for Event Planning: A Case Study Review

Updated on: Updated by: Marwa Alaa

In today’s digital age, where people expect readily accessible information, having a robust online presence is crucial for the success of any event.

Our task was to create a dynamic and engaging website that not only promotes our clients annual event but also serves as a central hub for information, participation, and a streamlined booking process.

This report outlines the challenges faced, the strategies employed, and the outcomes of this project, providing insights into the pivotal role of websites for event planning promotion and management.

ClientTradfest
Share on

The Challenge

The challenge presented in this case study involved developing a website for a client who hosts an annual traditional event in Ireland – Tradfest. We set several goals to build event awareness and further the success of it, including;

  • Event Promotion
  • Encouraging Participation
  • Information Provision
  • Streamlining Booking Processes

The challenge was to create a dynamic, engaging, and functional website that not only served as an informational hub for Tradfest but also played a critical role in marketing the event, attracting participation, and enhancing the overall experience leading up to it.

The Client

TradFest is an annual celebration of Irish traditional music, taking place in the heart of Dublin’s cultural quarter, Temple Bar. The festival showcases the best of established and emerging musical talent, offering an immersive experience of Irish music and culture.

TradFest is a must-visit event for anyone passionate about Irish traditional music and culture. The festival provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich musical heritage of Ireland, experience the vibrant energy of Dublin’s cultural scene, and discover the next generation of Irish music talent.

Our Approach

PPC Ads

We implemented a targeted Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising campaign to drive traffic to the Tradfest website. This strategy was designed to reach potential attendees actively searching for traditional events and cultural festivals. By carefully selecting keywords and crafting engaging ad copy, we helped maximise visibility and attracted a relevant audience to the website.

Streamlined Booking Process

We developed a new, user-friendly website featuring an integrated booking system to simplify the ticket purchasing process for Tradfest. This system allows attendees to easily buy tickets online, each equipped with a unique QR code. These QR codes streamlined the entry process at the event, which was especially beneficial for managing large crowds. The QR code system not only expedited entry but also reduced the potential for ticket fraud, enhancing security and efficiency.

Integrated ECommerce

The new website also features several e-commerce elements to enhance user experience and engagement:

  • Pop-Ups and Discount Codes: To engage visitors and promote sales, we integrated interactive pop-ups offering special deals, such as Black Friday discount codes. These timely and enticing offers encouraged immediate action and increased ticket sales and merchandise purchases.
  • Advent Calendar Pop-Up: A novel approach was the introduction of an advent calendar pop-up on the website, offering a different discount each day. This feature not only incentivised daily visits to the website but also kept the audience engaged and excited about the upcoming Tradfest.
  • Online Shop for Tradfest Merchandise: Understanding the appeal of festival merchandise, we included an online shop on the site. This shop offers a variety of Tradfest-themed items, from clothing to accessories, allowing fans to purchase memorabilia and further their connection with the festival.

By implementing these strategies, we aimed to create a holistic and engaging online presence for Tradfest. The PPC ads effectively increased awareness and attracted traffic, the streamlined booking process enhanced the customer experience, and the integrated e-commerce features not only boosted sales but also played a significant role in building excitement and engagement in the lead-up to the event.

The Results

Highest Year of Sales

The implementation of our new website design, coupled with the PPC campaign, yielded unprecedented success for Tradfest. Last year, it resulted in the highest sales ever recorded for the event.

The enhanced online presence and targeted advertising played a pivotal role in attracting a larger audience and converting interest into ticket sales. This surge in sales not only demonstrates the effectiveness of our digital marketing efforts but also underscores the growing popularity and reach of Tradfest.

Increase in SEO performance

Our efforts in optimising the website for search engines paid off significantly. There was a noticeable increase in the website’s ranking for various relevant keywords, leading to a dominant presence on the top page of search results.

This improved SEO performance not only enhanced the website’s visibility but also contributed to establishing Tradfest as a leading event in its domain. Being more discoverable to potential attendees searching for related content, the website became a primary driver for increasing awareness and interest in the event.

Increase in website traffic

Within just four months of launching the new website, we observed a dramatic increase in organic website traffic. This surge was not just in the number of visitors but also in the quality of engagement, as indicated by longer session durations and lower bounce rates.

This user-friendly website design and SEO efforts effectively attracted more visitors, providing a broader audience with information about Tradfest and its offerings. This significant rise in traffic further contributed to the overall success of the event, both in terms of ticket sales and popularity.

The results of our comprehensive approach were clear and impactful. The record-breaking sales, enhanced SEO performance, and significant increase in website traffic collectively marked a milestone for Tradfest, showcasing the effectiveness of well-planned and executed digital marketing strategies and the impact that a website for event planning can have.

Why Is a Website For Event Planning Important?

A website dedicated to event planning is crucial for several reasons, especially in today’s digital age where online presence significantly influences success.

  • Visibility and Reach: A website increases the visibility of an event, reaching a wider audience. It serves as a primary information hub where potential attendees can learn about the event, its location, date, and other details.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Websites are essential for marketing events. They allow for the integration of various promotional tools, such as videos, photos, testimonials, and detailed descriptions, which can be used to generate excitement and interest in the event.
  • Ease of Access and Convenience: Providing a central place where attendees can find all relevant information, register, or purchase tickets online is a huge convenience for website visitors.
  • Social Proof and Engagement: Websites allow for the integration of social media, where organisers can post updates, engage with attendees, and create a community around the event.
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimisation): A website provides an opportunity to utilise SEO strategies to improve the event’s online visibility. By ranking higher in search engine results, the event can attract more organic traffic, thereby increasing potential attendance.
  • Updates and Announcements: Websites offer a convenient platform for providing real-time updates and announcements about the event, ensuring that potential and registered attendees are always informed about any changes or important information.

A website for event planning is not just a modern necessity; it is a multifunctional tool that enhances marketing, improves engagement, provides valuable insights, and significantly contributes to the event’s overall success.

Having a website is a necessity in today’s digital landscape, it’s the hub of your online presence and the place where visitors will find your brand. But you also need a website that can convert those visits into sales, which was the problem faced by our client – Enviro FWA.

Recognising that their existing website was falling short, Enviro FWA turned to us for a solution. They wanted better conversion rate optimization on their website, more visitors and better SEO performance.

We were able to do just that, through a strategic website redesign – keep reading to find out how.

Enviro FWA - Homepage

The Client

Enviro FWA is an established and renowned supplier of air conditioning, ventilation, and fire safety products and services. With 20 years of experience in the industry, they have built a solid reputation as industry experts within their field.

Enviro FWA also boasts a team of experts who are dedicated to delivering a reliable service, with sustainable products that meet the highest industry standards. They encourage potential clients to choose Enviro Fire Water & Air Limited for all installation and servicing needs, promising a difference that their expertise and dedication can make.

Website performance score

The Challenge

There were a few challenges that stood in the way of Enviro’s online success, including;

  • An outdated website.
  • Lack of user-friendly navigation.
  • Poor conversion rates.
  • A website performance score of 17 on GTmetrix.

The website performance score of 17 was a clear indicator that more work needed to be done, it was hindering their success instead of creating it. But with a team of expert web developers and content writers, we were able to turn the tide and establish a strong website that could increase their conversion rate optimisation and enhance their digital presence.

Our Approach

Our approach focused on bringing new life to the outdated website. We aimed to fix the technical aspects of the website’s performance and encourage better conversion rate optimisation through embedded calls to action and enhance user experience.

User Experience Enhancement

Our primary focus was to improve the website’s user experience. We aimed to make it easier for visitors to navigate through the site and find exactly what they were looking for. This involved a complete redesign that not only modernised the look of the site but also made it more intuitive and user-friendly.

This is especially important when designing a website that is based on technical products/services. It needs to explain what they do in an easy-to-understand way. If the site is too difficult to navigate through, or if the information is crammed in, it will only serve to reduce the user experience and negatively affect the site’s performance.

SEO Optimisation

We strategically optimised the Enviro FWA website for enhanced SEO performance, some of the things we did include;

  • The correct use of tags (meta tags on images, tags on titles).
  • Setting up internal links properly.
  • On-page SEO elements.
  • Faster loading speeds.

The technical tweaks ensured that we could enhance the SEO performance, leading to more website visits and ultimately, enhanced conversion rate optimisation. As an SEO agency, we are able to combine sleek website design with strategic SEO practices that deliver real results.

Blog Page Enhancements

Another aspect of our SEO approach was to enhance the blog posts on Enviro’s website. This would ensure that the blogs could rank higher and that they could encourage the reader to take action, with strategically placed calls to action.

Each blog post is now linked to a contact page, ensuring that potential clients can effortlessly reach out to Viro for more information. This type of SEO blog also sets an example for Enviro, ensuring that they know how to structure content going forward.

Crafting a Service Product Page

To further assist Enviro in showcasing its services, we developed a single service product page. This clean and organised layout allowed potential customers to easily understand and access Enviro’s diverse offerings. We also included a strategically placed contact button to encourage inquiries, moving visitors closer to becoming customers.

The Homepage Transformation

The homepage is often a visitor’s first impression of a company, so when it came to Enviro FWA, we gave it a significant facelift:

  • We introduced a new, vibrant header that immediately grabs attention.
  • A clear and compelling call to action was added, guiding visitors towards a specific goal.
  • Integrated social media links, making it easy for visitors to connect with Enviro FWA on various platforms.

This homepage transformation was a crucial step in enhancing the online presence of Enviro FWA. With a welcoming homepage, visitors were encouraged to stick around for longer, explore their services and ultimately, increase conversion rate optimisation.

The results

After our comprehensive website redesign and conversion rate optimisation efforts,

Enviro’s website performance skyrocketed, bringing in more traffic and generating more sales. We have helped them gain a competitive foothold within their industry and reach clients through an engaging online space.

100% performance rate

The GTmetrix score leapt from a 17 to an impressive ‘A’ rank, with a 100% performance rate and a 96% structure rate. This transformation not only enhances user experience but also significantly boosts the site’s SEO.

Satisfied client

We pride ourselves on listening to our client’s needs and delivering results that excel their expectations. Enviro FWA was extremely satisfied with the website performance and redesign, it now promoted their brand in the best light and reflected the level of service they provide.

Our collaboration with Enviro FWA exemplifies the transformative power of a well-executed website revamp. From a complete redesign focused on user experience to meticulous SEO optimisations and performance improvements, we have positioned Enviro for digital success.

Their new website is not only visually appealing but it is also structured to drive conversions and climb search rankings. Today, Enviro FWA has a robust online presence, ready to engage its audience more effectively than ever before.

How We Improved Our Client’s GT Metrix Score From C Grading to A Grading

Updated on: Updated by: Ciaran Connolly

At ProfileTree, we don’t just design websites that look good, we also build websites that perform. When our client ProCoffee came to us for help with their website, we knew what we needed to do and we had a team of skilled web developers on hand to do it (shout out to Marcus in particular!.)

The GT Metrix results don’t lie and despite not having built the website, we were still able to bring the GT Metrix score up to an A standard. This meant that the new ProCoffee website was sleek, fast and high-performing. No more losing visitors to a poor non-responsive website, instead, visitors could spend time browsing ProCoffee products via an interactive, and intuitive digital space.

In this article, we’ll take you through the website design strategy that we implemented for ProCoffee, covering all of the technical web development adjustments for optimum website performance and delving into the SEO content that puts ProCoffee in front of the right target audience.

The Client

ProCoffee is a unique protein-based coffee blend that offers customers various health benefits alongside a great-tasting beverage. We can attest to the great taste because they were kind enough to bring a sample into the office – it didn’t last long.

When they came to us they explained the issues that they were having with low website traffic and poor conversion rates. They wanted to improve their SEO performance, attract more visitors and ultimately increase their product sales. We helped them achieve just that through a precise and targeted website redesign strategy.

Our Approach

Our initial approach was two-pronged; to enhance the website’s functionality and to create SEO content to improve the website’s visibility. This strategy would ensure that ProCoffee appeared in front of the right audiences in addition to ensuring that they wanted to stick around on the website for longer.

Improving the GT Metrix Performance Score

GT Metrix is a web performance tool that offers free and paid analysis of a website’s speed and performance. By inputting a URL, users can get a detailed report on what might be causing their website to load slowly or perform poorly.

GT Metrix gives scores using Google’s Lighthouse performance metrics, it provides detailed metrics on how long it takes for various parts of your website to load and helps in identifying bottlenecks or problematic resources.

Because we didn’t build the website, we first needed to know the current performance of ProCoffee, which showed us a rating of C. This technical information then allowed our web developer to identify precise optimization adjustments to increase the grade.

As a leading website design and development agency, we understand the importance of regularly checking tools like GT Metrix and value how instrumental they are in ensuring that a website provides a good user experience, which is increasingly vital for SEO and user retention.

Improving the GT Metix Score from C to A

Following this analysis from GT Metrix, we brought the performance of the ProCoffee website to an A grade, which is a significant success and credit to our amazing talented team of developers.

Check out the specifics of how we achieved this below.

Minification of code

Minification of code refers to the process of removing all unnecessary characters from the source code of web files without changing their functionality. This is done to reduce the size of the code, which in turn reduces the time it takes to download and load a website.

Image compression

Image compression refers to the process of reducing the file size of an image, either by eliminating unnecessary data from the image file or by using algorithms that efficiently encode the image data. The main goal of image compression is to represent an image using the least amount of data while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.

Added Internal Links

Internal linking was implemented throughout the website, this provided several benefits to the website’s performance including;

  • Enhanced User Experience
  • Increased Page Authority
  • Information Hierarchy Structure
  • Improved Crawling and Indexing
  • More strategic Keyword Targeting
  • Decreased Bounce Rate
  • Prolonged Engagement:

Internal linking is a critical component of website design and content strategy, playing a crucial role in enhancing user experience, site structure, and SEO efforts.

Optimised meta titles and alt tags

Optimising meta titles and alt tags plays a crucial role in improving a website’s visibility, usability, and SEO performance. A meta title is one of the most significant on-page SEO factors whilst alt tags provide context and information about the image, helping search engines understand and index it.

Improved Page Headings

We also improved all of the page headings and ensured that they provided clearly structured content that both search engine algorithms and readers could quickly understand. This process establishes a hierarchy of information and helps readers understand the organisation of the content and the relationships between different sections.

Through this technical website optimization we were able to deliver a high-performing and sleek website redesign to our client’s at ProCoffee. The GT Metrix A Score is proof of this optimization and evidence of our technical skill and ability.

GT Metrix Speed Test

The Speed Index is a type of speed test that represents how quickly the contents of a page are visibly populated. It’s one of the performance metrics provided by GT Metrix when analysing a web page.

The Speed Index is typically represented in milliseconds. A lower Speed Index means the content is displayed more quickly, leading to a better user experience. Several elements can influence a page’s Speed Index, including server response times, render-blocking resources (like JavaScript and CSS), and large media files (unoptimized images or videos).

Speed Index is valuable because it’s centred on user experience. A website might technically load quickly (i.e., all resources are loaded), but if the visible content takes time to appear, users might perceive it as slow.

ProCoffee - Speed Index Before

Speed Index of 1.9s

When we first analysed ProCoffee, their website speed was sitting at 1.9s which wasn’t a desirable metric of optimum website performance. Longer page loading times can be detrimental to the success of a website, frustrating visitors and resulting in higher bounce rates.

Speed Index Increased to 436ms

A good user experience is considered to be 1.3s or less, and we delivered results that produced a speed index rating of just 436ms – a great achievement and one we are very proud of.

At ProfileTree, we have created a bulletproof strategy that produces high-performing websites that can capture the audience’s attention. Our skilled team knows how to implement technical adjustments, ensuring that you receive a functional website build that best represents your brand.

SEO Analysis

In order to ensure a profitable website design, we also implemented a strong SEO strategy to ensure that the website was visible to potential audiences. However, before we could implement this strategy, we have to perform an SEO analysis to direct our efforts.

Our SEO performance analysis of ProCoffee showed that they were ranking for approximately 20 keywords, with an average position of 95. There was definitely room for growth and we were able to design a content strategy for optimum results.

ProCoffee - Search Position

SEO Content Strategy

We developed a tactful SEO content strategy that would ensure heightened visibility, improved SEO rankings and ultimately attract more website visitors to generate product sales. This was achieved through a comprehensive package that included the following.

A monthly content plan

This strategic monthly plan would become the backbone of the SEO efforts, ensuring high-quality content was consistently produced in order to grow the website and appeal to search engine algorithms.

Two monthly articles

These two monthly articles would target a predetermined set of keywords, strengthening the brand as a health and fitness expert and targeting like-minded audiences who value a healthy lifestyle.

Monthly keyword research and suggestions

In order to stay ahead of the latest online trends and conversions, we also regularly reviewed the keyword targeted list, ensuring that we quickly identified any emerging trends that we could capitalise on for the benefit of the ProCoffee website.

Regular reviews of SEO performance

This comprehensive approach to improving the SEO was underpinned by a commitment to continual improvement. Regular reviews were conducted to gauge traffic influx and assess the tangible benefits of the content strategy, ensuring ProCoffee always remained a step ahead in the digital landscape.

248 Keywords

The results showed an impressive jump in the website’s SEO performance and in just 6 months, ProCoffee was now ranking for 248 keywords, generating a steady amount of traffic and most importantly, attracting the right kind of audiences – those who were interested in protein based coffee and the added vitamins and nutrients that their product provides.

A combined approach for enhancing the GTMetrix Score and SEO

While the content strategy played a pivotal role in boosting ProCoffee and its SEO, it was the technical optimization of their website that laid the foundation for this success. It’s essential to underscore that initiating the technical work was not just a one-off task; it was the bedrock upon which all subsequent strategies were built.

However, establishing this foundation was only the beginning. To ensure sustained website health and performance, regular content updates and optimization became integral. By meticulously combining both these aspects – rigorous technical refinement and continual content enrichment – we ensured that ProCoffee was able to achieve and maintain an optimised digital presence and stand out in an ever-evolving digital marketplace.

How We Helped Our Client Find an SEO Domain Solution

Updated on: Updated by: Ciaran Connolly

If you have ever ventured into the world of SEO, you probably already know how important your domain is for SEO purposes. It takes time to build authority and establish an online presence through your domain.

When our clients at Beyond Safety came to us with their new sub-brand we knew we had to come up with a SEO domain solution that protected their existing website domain whilst creating a new digital identity for their in-house brand.

It was an exciting challenge, and we were excited to figure it out. Keep reading to see how we did it.

BeyondSafety - Homepage

The Client

BeyondHR is a Human Resources consultancy firm that provides a range of services across Northern Ireland, Scotland, and England. They assist organisations in recruiting, managing, and safeguarding their staff.

BeyondHR offers services to both SMEs and larger corporate clients. The consultancy team is composed of experienced HR consultants who are experts in the outsourced HR industry and Health & Safety Consultants, who have supported thousands of SMEs across the UK and Ireland, boasting more than 200 years of combined experience.

BeyondHR’s mission is to be the leading provider of outsourced HR support services and health & safety advice for SMEs in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and England. They are committed to bringing clarity and perspective to people management, recruitment, and health & safety issues – going beyond what is expected of your usual HR consultancy firm.

The Challenge

As part of the business strategy, BeyondHR needed to develop a separate sub-brand for its health and safety services – BeyondSafety. This would help the business expand into the health and safety sector and establish a credible presence within it.

BeyondSafety assists businesses in ensuring that they are in compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. They encourage businesses to reach out to their consultants for guidance and support in this area, aiming to become the leading provider within NI, England and Scotland.

The challenge now was to create two separate brands that could promote both aspects of their business. However, we needed to ensure that the Beyond brand identity was reinforced and that the SEO efforts of the previous domain were maintained. This required a strategic approach to website design and SEO.

Screenshot of BeyondHR website and BeyondSafety Microsite

The Solution

The solution wasn’t as simple as splitting the website into two separate domains, doing so would pose several challenges including;

  • Challenging the SEO of the existing domain.
  • The individual cost of hosting two domains.
  • Time and effort spent managing two domains

So we decided against a standalone website. Instead, we decided to build a ‘microsite’ within the existing BeyondHR website. This would ensure that everything was kept under one roof and that the SEO strategy remained strong with opportunities to pursue different sets of keywords within each site.

The Microsite Build

The microsite build still had everything that you would need from a standalone website – dedicated web pages, a different design, chatbot features, etc. We ensured that it was in keeping with the Beyond brand identity whilst establishing a separate persona that communicated a set of different services.

Homepage

The homepage welcomes visitors to BeyondSafety, quickly establishing the business as a health and safety consultant. In order to extinguish between the two brands, we used separate colour themes; incorporating a green theme which is perfect for health and safety-related services.

Health and Safety Services

For simple and user-friendly navigation, we also built a separate services page. This type of website design ensures that visitors can quickly find the information they need, in addition to providing opportunities to capitalise on keywords from dedicated URLs.

Videos

As part of the client’s SEO strategy, we also sought to leverage Google’s video feature in search results. This dedicated video page would allow the client to rank for specific keywords through informational videos, providing an opportunity to push the BeyondSafety microsite up search engine results.

Resources

We also wanted the BeyondSafety microsite to become a hub of information that would attract visitors for health and safety advice and guidance. This would contribute towards the domain authority for both BeyondHR and BeyondSafety and help establish the BeyondSafety brand as a credible expert within the field.

Dedicated Client Portal

We also created a client portal for Beyond HR’s clients to securely access and upload HR information. This would help protect their client’s data and ensure that they could securely receive sensitive documents.

The Results

The results of this microsite approach yielded the best results for SEO and website management. The client now had a streamlined solution where all of the business activities were centralised through one main website, with a dedicated microsite that promoted the sub-brand and attracted a different target audience.

  • We didn’t disrupt the current SEO efforts.
  • The main website now ranks for 280+ keywords.
  • They are ranking for video search engine results.

We successfully created two separate brands that were both underpinned by the Beyond brand identity. The client was satisfied with the microsite; it met all of their needs and consolidated their brand and sub-brand in one place.

An innovative approach for SEO domain

At ProfileTree, we specialise in both website design and SEO, this gives us the best tools in order to create sleek and functional websites that are underpinned by a strategic approach.

That’s what sets us apart from the competition, it could have been more convenient for BeyondHR to request an entirely new website for their sub-brand, but we were able to provide strategic industry insights, ensuring that we could find an SEO domain solution that worked for their needs and objectives.

Why Is a Domain Important for SEO?

The domain name of a website is an important factor in SEO, here’s a breakdown of how domain names can impact SEO:

Brandable Domain Names

Search engines, especially Google, have been placing more emphasis on brand signals. A unique, memorable, and brandable domain name can help build brand recognition, which can indirectly benefit SEO through increased user engagement, trust, and link-building opportunities.

Domain Age

Older domains are often viewed as more trustworthy by search engines, although the impact of domain age on SEO is relatively small compared to other factors. It’s more about how well a site has been maintained and improved over time.

Clean History

A domain with a clean, penalty-free history is generally seen as more trustworthy by search engines. A domain that has been penalised in the past may have a harder time ranking, even under new ownership.

SSL Certificate (HTTPS)

Google has confirmed that HTTPS (SSL-secured sites) is a ranking signal. Users are more likely to trust a secure site with their personal information, and browsers like Chrome now label non-HTTPS sites as ‘Not Secure’.

While the domain name is an important aspect of SEO, it is just one piece of the puzzle. High-quality content, a well-structured website, fast loading times, mobile-friendliness, high-quality backlinks, and a great user experience are among the many other critical factors for SEO success – which is exactly what we did for the BeyondSafety microsite build.
